A reworked and rerecorded version of U’re Gonna C Me was later released on Prince’s studio album MPLSound in 2009. Prince, who adored Mitchell, frequently covered the track in his shows since the Triple Threat Tour in 1983, but his 2002 version is considered among the best covers of her work. One Nite Alone… includes a cover of Joni Mitchell’s A Case Of You. The lid (which opens electronically) on Prince’s piano features a gold Prince love symbol in place of the model’s usual Pegasus figurine.
The piano Prince plays on the album is a Pegasus grand piano formed of black fibreglass with integrated stool, a stylish model built to a cost of £70,000 by Schimmel, a renowned German producer of high-end pianos since 1885. One Nite Alone… was recorded at Paisley Park Studios during the spring of 2001 during the studio sessions for The Rainbow Children.
